What steps should an egg donor follow?
The first step is to call our clinic, where you will be given an appointment. There you will be informed of all the process in detail. Afterwards the following tests will be performed:
- a gynaecological check-up.
- a blood test in order to rule out sexually transmitted diseases, karyotype errors and blood type.
How does the treatment work?
A controlled stimulation of ovulation is carried out with a hormone treatment, lasting approximately a couple of weeks. During the entire process, ultrasound and blood controls will be conducted, so an availability for different sessions at the clinic is required.
Finally, the oocyte retrieval will take place in an operating theatre under sedation so you want notice any discomfort. This process is quick and simple. After the ovarian puncture, you will need to rest a couple of hours under medical supervision. Then you will be able to go back home and return to normal life.
Important things you need to know:
The donation of egg cells does not reduce the chances of getting pregnant in the future, since it will not decrease your ovarian reserve.
Donations are always anonymous and confidential, so that donors and recipients cannot get to know each other. Donors will be chosen by the clinic.
There is no money retribution for the donated eggs, but a reimbursement shall be offered for the troubles, displacement to the centre, stay at the clinic and time required for the donation.
